| Created at roughly the same time as its more famous cousin, the Hammerhead-class cruiser, the Starhawk-class heavy frigate was designed to act primarily as a support vessel for the Republic in situations where the fleet needed to enter combat in locations away from the core of Republic space.   Heavily packed with more weapons than would be expected of its size, the fire support provided by a Starhawk-class is greatly desired by many Republic fleet captains at times when the odds may not necessarily be in their favor. Although its superior power helps fend off vessels much larger than itself, the frigate’s weaker shields tend to keep it closer to larger vessels for additional protection to ensure it stays in the battle longer than it would on its own.   Tactical Fire: The Starhawk-class heavy frigate packs quite a punch against the enemies of the Republic fleet and has gained a reputation of being one of the heavy hitters for its size classification. As a standard action, a Starhawk-class heavy frigate can forego all attacks to provide to all squares in a 1-square radius. Instead of dealing double damage, all allied starships automatically deal maximum damage on critical hits.
