|Born on Coruscant as the son of an Imperial pilot, Benjan Rohic was raised in a strict environment and taught the ways of a soldier from the time he was three years old. Attending a military school on Coruscant, Benjan graduated and prepared to attend the Imperial Academy.
During his third year in the academy, Benjan's father was reassigned to the Empire's new pride and joy at the time, the Death Star. When news reached Coruscant that his father died in the Battle of Yavin 4, Benjan was forced to drop out of the academy. Unable to afford to live on the capital world any longer, he and his mother prepared to move offworld. Before they moved, Benjan was hired to be a security guard for the Corellian Engineering Corporation, who paid for him and his mother to move to Corellia.
A few years later, Benjan jumped at the chance to do something away from the Core and was one of the first ones to sign up for an assignment at the CEC facilities at the Sluis Van shipyards. Traveling with a few other guards and some CEC technicians, the ship was attacked by slavers that killed a number of the passengers and took him and a technician as future slaves.
Benjan was on the slaver ship for the better part of a week, when a recent addition to the slave pool staged a revolt against the crew. Benjan guarded the CEC technician, while he broke into one of the shuttles to let them and a few others escape.
Benjan and the other four slaves traveled to the nearby planet of Malastare, where they formed a mercenary group together called the Xyber Corps.
Satisfying his sense of adventure, Benjan is content working with the group. Even though the pay is not quite as good as the CEC, he enjoys what he does now and doesn't even dream about returning to Corellia.
