Sylvani come from Vanost, a world in the Outer Rim dominated by forests. Their society is considered primitive, with the majority of society living in small nomadic groups that travel through the forests. Some of them, however, have banded together to form a larger society and have begun building permanent structures.

The Sylvani just recently discovered space travel and galactic society against their will through a group of slavers during the height of the Empire. Large numbers of Sylvani were taken as slaves and sold throughout the galaxy. Since the fall of the Empire, Sylvani have begun settling on worlds similar to their homeworld and are slowly integrating into galactic society.
